About Pernet
Our programs annually support over 12,500 people in Worcester and Central Massachusetts.
Pernet is a Medicare-certified home health agency. We provide a continuum of care to support and strengthen families.
- This is done through giving hands-on, in-home care of Maternal Child Health cases in the Worcester area, and Early Intervention Services for children 0-3 years of age with, or at-risk for, developmental delays.
- The Webster Square Day Care Center provides up to 61 children from 2.9 -6 years old quality early education and care in the center-based large group setting and encompasses 34 family day providers caring for infants through 6 years old.
- The Youth Program offers recreation, academic support, and youth events to neighborhood youth.
- In partnership with the Department of Children and Families, the Parent Aide Program works on family reunification and parent training.
- The Fathers Program supports fathers in the community and those at the Worcester County Jail and House of Correction, giving them skills needed to connect with their children.
- Our Emergency Assistance Program operates a food pantry where families can access food, diapers, and hygiene products, as well as Holiday Assistance.
History
The Little Sisters of the Assumption came to Worcester in 1955 to work with families and their children. The essential Mission of the Sisters is to provide health care and support to the disadvantaged families and to revitalize the spirit of those degraded by poverty. In 1968, the Sisters incorporated under the title Pernet [per-nay’] Family Health Service, named after the order’s founder. The agency became a home health agency certified by the Department of Public Health and is currently a major provider of home health care and early intervention services to families in the Worcester area.
